Tough pick?

Do you think some of these top ranks are good enough to win a game with a tough starting pick? Make them start with Switzerland or something and let someone like me pick Germany. Do you think I'd win or this high rank? Basically my question is whether their skill is that much greater than game basics.

I started as Spain and Mecoy (rank 9) started as Lux. I got smashed. End of story.

Reason he won as Lux, is because he has more starting cash and lots of troop production since you were Spain, the game evens it out by allowing him to create lots more reinforcements.

Some are, most are not. Under those conditions though, and knowing that european economy is about 5x African, and also that they would start too far for getting Northern África (and another good part of African income...) you would beat anyone without problems.

Pretty much like Cyprus vs Turkey.

There is always a limit, I would say that to beat a common rank 7 who knows how to wall, pick strategy, mix and merge stacks, only uses closer reinforcements, does lights maneuvers and takes all the countries capital, a top rank would require around 50% his income and 80% his reinforcements or vise-versa.

Some examples....

If you had full USA and all central América vs their south América, you would beat them.

If you had all eastern Asia including Indochina and they had western Asia, they would beat you.

If you had turkey and all balkans vs them having all middle east up to Iran, they would beat you.

If you had all Asian russias up to Volga, and they had the three european russias, they would beat you.

If you had all Indochina and southern Asia vs their Australia, you would beat them.

If you start as somewhere in US vs them starting somewhere in Brazil, they would beat you. Unlike the other example here you don't have nor will get central América against any good player...

Who needs to be a high rank.

This is a joke btw, the guy didn't know how to wall in 3s yet...

On topic: If you give a high rank the space to expand and enough reinforcements to take a few countries then it's pretty hard to win as a low rank.
