I am trying to understand the mechanisms in the battle calculations, but I see the same example repeated in the various posts in the forum, so here is a new one. Can anyone please confirm or comment? For the sake of simplicity, the assumption in the example is that both sides have selected no strategy, which means the Militia has 3 (ATT), 4 (DEF), 7 (HP) - Critical is zero for Militia, so you do not need to take this into account.

Scenario 1: 2 militia attacking 1 militia

Round 1 (scenario 1)
The 2 militias have 6 in attack, so they will provide 6 damage to the single militia. The damage to the single militia is taken from the HP, which means it will go down from 7 to 1.
The defending militia has 4 in defense, which means one of the attacking units will go from 7 to 3.

Round 2 (scenario 1)
The 2 militias are now attacking with reduced strength due to the lost HP. The attack factor is not reduced for one of the units (Att factor 3), however the wounded unit now only attacks with 42% power (3/7) which is 1,2. All in all the attack factor is now 6 (4 rounded). The defending unit therefore gets the HP reduced to 0 and is eliminated.
The defending has 1 HP left (out of 7), which means the it will cause 14% damage based on 4 defending points which is 0,6 (rounded to 1). The wounded attacking unit is therefore reduced in HP from 7 to 3 (round 1) and no to 2.

Result
The battle is over, the two attacking units survived, and their HP is reset to full (2 times 7), however the defending unit is no longer in play.

Please comment….

HP is regenerated after every battle.

The default units (those in default map) have all 7 HP unless you:

1. Have militias in general stack with "General: Ground Secondary Defense" upgrade. There your militias earn +1 HP (8 hp in total).

2. Playing IronFist strategy (+2 HP to all units)

3. Playing Great Combinator (+1 HP to both inf and Tanks)

4. There is also a Safe Transportation upgrade that add +2 HP to transports.

When you attack, your enemy defend. Both deal a damage which is reduced from your units's HP. When one unit lose all the health points, it dies.

I was going to summon Clovis but I figured I would just quote his answer instead.

IMO Scenario 2 is more correct.

Not sure I understand your last comment "IMO Scenario 2 is more correct". Are you able to comment on the calculations, because if they are true, then I basically just need 2 militia to attack one (assuming no strategy is used)

Well you can't forget that rolls take into place. So it's not exactly 6 attack vs 4 defense. You could potentially roll 1's for each of your militia and he rolls a 4 making it 2 against his 4. HP just means basically that the unit will stay alive in battle longer.

There's no such thing as "reduced strength" due to lost of HP. Hit points work just as in pokemon, once you lose them, you're dead. However, it does not make attacks or defense weaker.

Attack and deffense values depend on your maximum attack and deffense and your rolls, that's all. So your militias will attack with a value somewhere between 3 and 1, while they will deffend with values comprised between 4 and 1.

Anyhow, I got no access to the equations behind this game, so I'd rather not affirm something too strongly...

Thanks for your clarification - It is much appreciated. I fully understand that your statement is based on you not having full insights of the equation, but you come with a few important points (at least to me). (1) No reduced attack points due to lost HP, however this make me think of another scenario I need some more clarity on (I will start a new thread on that) and (2) even though I have a defensive point of 4, then this is to be considered as the maximum defensive point - it is not given that I will get 4 in the battle.
