Any Macedonian?

I had a Greek friend called John. he was the finest man you would ever meet. always patient modest and never judging anymore. one of my role models. but when it came to macedonia (or as he calls them skojope (i think, was many years ago) or FYROM) he always insisted that they try to hijack history and are ancestor of the slavic people which are great people but alexander and his general butchered in masses and therefore it's stupid to make statues for them every corner. since he is the man i trust the most in the world i tend to believe him unless someone will break his arguments.

People are mixed of ancient genes and slavic,language and tradition are slavic ever since south slavs setteled balkans,more and more started living here,buliding new cities over ancient ones,changing names of them and asimilating the population of ancient times with slavs..eventualy after over 100 years of imigrations by slavs and traditional changes,but one thing stayed the same..the slavs that came accepted the name Macedonia.
This is from the dark ages(great migration period untill just before 1000AD)

Its controversal to say,but the ancestors that lived in macedonia before slavic migration didnt speak greek..infact philip the fifth was also called the barbarian..cause greek south city states didnt understand the macedonians..
Along by the fact that macedonia never joined the greek olympics,only after alexander the great did reforms to make the people more modern and "helenistic"
Since greece back that time was influental in culture and language to its neighbours.

What are you talking about? It was Northwestern Greek dialect, there were a ton of Greek dialects back then, Attic Greek was also spoken and after Alexander raped his way to India the official language was again, Greek. Slavs were probably in Belarus at the time.

He was and all the Macedonians were. They were worst than Spartans and thats a great insult trust me, just backwater hillbillies living in the mountains, totally inferior to grandiose and advanced city states like Athens who excelled in philosophy, arts and sciences. To their defence it was not entirely their fault as they lived isolated behind mountains and had to protect all the other Greek city states acting as a buffer against the hordes of barbarians from the North.

Only a few participated in the Olympics, you are right but i dont get what point you are trying to convey. Macedonia was cut out from the rest of the city states mostly due to geographical reasons. Macedonia is greek for highlands and thats what it was, a mountainous area isolated from the rest, disliked by the majority of the "superior" south and having to fend off barbarian invaders. I would add to that that the Olympic games just like everything else, were corrupt and politicalised. Some city states were cut off, others were bribing, others cheating and so on.

Modern? Lol no, Athens was the most technologically and intellectually advanced empire of the time, Alexander and all his nobles were taught and shaped to what he became from Aristotle himself.

But you are right he did unite the city states and he was the first to introduce the idea of Hellenism and export it. You could say he is the first who tried to make a bunch of states into a country, Greece. He was a remarkable individual.

Lot of athnes attempts to make a breakthrough were cutten by the authorities executing and sending theoreticans to exile. like every other nation it was spiritually devided, I believe Alexander's spirit of dedication to hellenism eventually did change things for the good even though the extreme abmition for military achievments and power slowed it (and if we think about it his dream did'nt last much did it?). Even though it showed the bases for democracy it was failed by the stupid habbits of the aristocracy (how ironic).

The point is they don't have to stick to this stupid story of a great era. they can make a lot better nowdays thanks to who they are.

Also. Alexander's mother was Albanian and therfore 4nic belongs to comando and klevis xaxaxa

Ancient history is ancient for a reason,there are few evidences for all that's stated on both sides.most of it leads to it being wrong or unfinished...

Anyway to answer your question roai, skopjians(as we greek call them, I personally call them vardaskians) think they are the next generations of macedonians just because it is thought that they have same genes as the macedonians.Which makes sense since we owned their lands and had people put in there(slav lands, obviously they didn't exist back then) and with the same logic fucking kebabs pakistans and indians (hi darth) can claim their macedonian origin.

Well Athens and most of Ancient Greece was corrupted as fuck. The betrayals, backstabbing, political games, bullying, exploitation and drama was too much. If the city states were united under Athens leadership then Italy invasion would be succesfull and then im pretty sure we would live in a totally different world. One thing is for sure, the Middle East would speak Greek, Jews would be happy and Islam would never have existed.

Anyway, it's really weird from my point of view. Scots still with England, Welsh are silent and Northern Irish seems to gave up. Eastern Europeans start wars for smaller issues, but Western Europeans doesn't react.

Imagine if Serbians live in England, Croatians in Scotland, Bosnian Muslims or Macedonians in Wales and Slovenians in Ireland, what a mess that would be. Croatians would start a war to secede, claiming England trying to become great again, Slovenians would raise slovenian flag in Belfast and imprison every Serbian [what the hell would serbians do there in the first place]

That's why i think people made mistake during migration era. It should've been Slavs going to British Isles, and Germanics Goths and Celts going to Eastern Europe. That way you can leave Slavs fight in british isles and no one would care about as long conflict is isolated that way

Well the point is you did, then suddenly stopped. That is what confused me.

I'm not getting into if it is good or bad, moral immoral, darwinist. Aside philosophy, it is weird to see conflicts all around the world: middle east, south asia, east asia, north asia, eastern europe, south america, africa, and no conflict in europe or north america, though in north america 2 countries occupy all the continent so that's why.

Real Macedonia is in Greece (mostly) and upper Macedonia is FYROM.

I support Greeks in this discussion.
