Marines that walk on water and kill subs

Just had a curious experience of a cluster of 3 marines - presumably shipwrecked when I sank their subs - floating around in the Atlantic and beating a sub I sent to kill them...twice! Either this is a bug...or someone's unlocked a Jesus brigade

No if a transport leaves a stack the units 'swim'

And they will get stuck on the water, unless a transport comes and pick them up.

The game doesn't recognize the units as being in water, they just know there are units there. So the marines defend normally like they would if they were attacked on the coast by subs.
