It's not a country, it's part of Portugal. And their is a military base their that the US uses, it's a very strategic position, almost in the middle of the Atlantic.

The Azores, if it can't be used as a latejoin country, is basically useless then because it can't produce many units and doesn't provide much income, no matter if it has a strategic position - such a position would be worthwhile if the Azores could produce loads of units at once.

I can give you a good reason why it is useful. It would allow you to have a force of subs and stealth bombers that can re-stealth in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.

I also think Northern Russia/Canada should have docking cities on it's Northern edge. The bottom and top parts of the map would be very important in a world war. They are fairly unused in Afterwind.

Poor Greenland. They deserve a place here.

If there are any good sized citys in northern Siberia it would be grand to see some there, plus if we have a good three citys in norther canada and maybe 3 for greenland and another 3 for northern russia, I could see the artic being a good zone, just as long as at least 3 citys up there have at least 3 troops, cant havee 1 troop each for that lol
