Why are avatars a feature you pay for?

Sure, It's nice and all but I would never spend money on such a stupid thing. Why would you make it a paying feature? I mean, It's a cool bonus to people who do pay but It's ridiculous to charge for something you can get for free almost anywhere else.

Well, no one is obligated to purchase this pack, and it's absolutely not required for playing the game or even using the forum. We decided this (together with custom General icons, signatures and Global chat) would make a nice pack of extra features, that's all.

If I may say, I think it's a good idea.

Ivan's and Amok's choice (a) takes nothing away from the game and (b) is something a lot of committed players who joined after the beta phase may want.

Apart from forbidding the creation of private games--which is how I invited my brother to the game, for example--I think all of the stuff you need to pay for is "wanted" enough but still not quite enough as to break the game for newer, non-paying members.

It's quite fair, wouldn't you agree? Just try to see it from poor Ivan's and Amok's perspectives. They came from poor Estonia and had to emigrate to all over Europe and they get this kind of backlash for making one of the most highly original (and greatly enjoyable) strategy games on the internet? Shame on you, Fruitcommando, you shouldn't say things like that, I really feel for the two guys.

The only thing I see wrong with it is that it auto sizes the pic you upload- maybe instead of stretching the picture it adds black borders?
